From the desk of Betti - our CCA volunteer President:

These were the happenings at our General Membership meeting on 14th April 2026:

We had a good meeting with 40 people attending at the Irmo Library, each committee chair was recognized, and we are thankful for their volunteer services for our community!

Deputy Aaron Anthony represented Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and stated that crimes in our community remain low without any serious crimes to report.  He repeated his warning against leaving items of value visible inside cars parked, like a purse, laptop, checkbook etc., especially not to leave firearms inside cars!

He also noted to avoid leaving identifying items in your cars that could tempt break-ins or cause personal information to be used in other crimes such as identity thefts.  Even simple things like lose change sitting visible in a console may trigger a break-in.

Always remain aware of your surrounding when entering or leaving your car, stay alert and if you see something suspicious in our community, do not hesitate to call Lexington County Sheriff’s office at 803-785-8230.   If you see something, say something.

We were honored to have Dr. Kaaren Hampton, Principle for Irmo High school since 2022 to speak, she is herself a graduate of Irmo High School and has extensive experience in the school, having previously served as an English teacher and later as Assistant Principal for 12 years.   She told us with great passion of the many changes taking place the coming school year including the new building beginning to be inaugurated as well as other curricular improvements and plans expected to greatly enhance the experiences at the Irmo High School.

Our next quarterly meeting will again be held at the Irmo Library on August 11th, hope to see y’all there, tell your neighbor to come!

Finally, our 2026 Coldstream Community PICNIC will be held on May 30th at Moore Park in Irmo, in Shelter # 2.  All Coldstream folks are invited but in order to have enough food and drink available we will need to have a headcount, so RSVP is required.

Keep an eye on our website and emails for updates and latest news.
